We took John Schmoll’s advice and spaced the winches far apart and had a good simultaneous launch man-on-man contest in the face of rising winds. The task time was 5 minutes for the first three rounds and 8 minutes for the last two. We were a little rusty on the launches but lucky on the winch to wind direction placement and did ok. It takes a bit to readjust to not waiting for your turn to launch.

I want to thank Dave Wrinkle for bringing his winch to the field despite not feeling well at all. I want to thank Gavin and Skye for getting Don Harris’s winch to the field. I want to thank Ken Rice for attempting to get his winch to the field before vehicle breakdown stopped him.  Dan Meyer was the first person on the field Sunday morning with his personal winch--thanks Dan.

More thanks: Ken Davidson stayed for timing and launching flights after his plane went down. Alex Trussell for timing and launching a flight.  Roger Parrett came out and shagged lines. John Lueke for broken line repair.  Norm Poti for sharpening the pencils. Evert Wick came out to spectate. For everyone that crossed over the road and helped me hunt down my wayward Mantis THANK YOU.

Dave Wrinkle’s clip boards are working really good. We need a couple more solar powered calculators as I think we are down to just one or two in the box. They need to have a large display and be easy to read in bright sunlight like the ones we have. I will check the brand and how many we have left.
